The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey

We're switching things up a little bit today on The Happy Hour. My husband and best friend, Aaron, is guest hosting and interviewing ME. My very first book, If You Only Knew, released yesterday and I am feeling every possible emotion about the whole thing. On today's show, we talk about the book writing process and my heart behind the message of the book. Aaron also asks me about the most vulnerable chapter in the book, where I share a recent struggle. I'll be the first and last to say vulnerability is hardly ever easy, but always worth it.

Guys, I really can't believe this book is finally out into the world. I cannot thank you enough for your support and you cheering me on. This has been such a labor, and such a joy, and such a rollercoaster and you guys have been amazing through it all. I am so so grateful. And if you haven't already, I would love for you to pick up a copy of the book today for you and a friend. You can do that right now right here!

{You can listen to the show HERE. And of course, I would love if you would share with your friends. Just use the FB & Twitter links at the end of this post!}

Kat Harris joins me today for The Happy Hour #177. Kat is a Brooklyn-based photographer, educator, and Co-Founder of the online magazine The Refined Woman.  Her mission is to empower women to embrace their beauty, identity, and value through the art of story telling.

As you'll hear in our conversation today, Kat believes life happens in the in-between, and that there is no such thing as having 'arrived'.  We talk about the idea of sustainable transformation and how she believes every opportunity is an opportunity for growth if we choose it to be.

Kat shares all about being single and a virgin In New York City and how she fights to trust God in her singleness. She talks about her conviction to abstain from sex until marriage, what the Bible says, and how she plans to endure in a culture and city where it's not celebrated.

I loved my conversation with Kat so much, and I just know you will too.

My guest for The Happy Hour #175 is Alisa Keeton. Alisa is a leading certified wellness professional with more than 20 years of experience.  She is passionately dedicated to serving the Lord and is the founder of Revelation Wellness, a nonprofit ministry dedicated to educating and inspiring people to live healthy and whole lives in Christ.

I just know you guys are going to love my conversation with Alisa. We talk about how her relationship with Jesus began and took a serious toll on her marriage. Alisa shares how God redeemed her marriage and how she and her husband are both living lives surrendered to Jesus. You'll also hear about Alisa's decision to have her breast implants removed. If you want to read more about that story, you can do so here. We talk all about holistic health and what motivates us and what drags us down.

In her new book, The Wellness Revelation: Lose What Weighs You Down So You Can Love, God, Yourself, and Others, Alisa takes an in depth look at what it means to be transformed by God’s love, from the inside-out. After our conversation, I know you'll want to go check that out.

My guest for The Happy Hour #174 is Mica May. Mica is the Founder and CEO of lifestyle brand, May Designs. She believes every day life should be lovely, and is on a mission to make all of life’s normal activities just a little bit more magical - from paper goods to her new apparel line. Her notebooks just launched in Target stores nationwide, were named one of Oprah’s favorite things and have been featured on The Today Show and Good Morning America. Mica lives in Austin with her best friend and husband, Jonathan and their three kids.

On today's show she tells us exactly how her love for pretty paper transformed into the company that we know and love today! Mica shares candidly about the moment she had to make the decision to keep moving through the hardships of starting a business, or deciding to throw in the towel and quit. On behalf of all of us that love our May Designs books, we're glad she continued moving forward with her business.

The final part of our show was powerful as Mica and I discussed the moments when she was told that her son had Down's Syndrome. Her thoughts on borrowing grief and guilt were moving to me, and I'll never forget our conversation. I know that you'll love the show!
